About The Economy

First of all, I am no economist. This page is mostly about documenting what I find on the Internet. Unlike my writings about social and computing, nothing here constitutes actionable advice.

Methodology

Make sure {past, present}{politics, culture, economy} are consistent with each other. Theory must match reality, or else be useless.

Why do these splits exist? Just as computing (information processing, handling, transportation, etc) is somewhat of a blend between mathematics, hardware engineering and physics, I feel like there is no point in splitting Humanities either. Studying economics is studying humanity itself. “The invisible hand” narrative implies that currency has a mind of its own, but in reality, it’s many different individuals making individual choices simultaneously.

Now the time for theories.

Threats to livelihood

Economics is harder to understand than politics. In politics, violence is perceivable. Money is way less perceivable.

Or, in a sense, money is power. Not in the sense that money can buy power. By owning what you see and buy, cloud companies can control your life.

So I thought to document this.
